Holiday Keepsake Storage

Check these out...

I have soooo many bulbs that get smashed every year because I have them all wrapped in tissue paper and shoved into a smaller box which is then shoved into a Rubbermaid storage container. This would be perfect! You can check it out at Sterling Pear.

Isn't this one gorgeous? This is perfect for all the Heirlooms that are handed down from generation to generation. This box is sure to last forever.

And this tree skirt....oh it's absolutely gorgeous! I have the felt tree skirt that I made from red and white felt and has handdrawn poinsettia's all over it. It's falling apart....this is a sturdy tree skirt that would surly last a lot longer than the felt kind.

I am adding these to my Christmas list!! Here is a discount code you can use at checkout to get an extra 10% off....use code: DERREF1 (provided by Derek of Derek M Designs).

Hint to my family: you always ask what I want for Christmas....well here ya go, I even gave you a "coupon". hehehe.

Have a great day and don't forget to check out Sterling Pear for all of your Holiday decorating needs.

Orbs? Defect? You be the judge.

Blogger is not working right lately....I can't get the previews to get bigger for some reason. One LO will get bigger when you click on it but the others won't...don't know what's up with that.
I don't know about you, but I can't see these being a defect in the picture. These were taken with a digital camera, no film involved, no developing in a dark room...have you ever had this happen to your digital photo's?

A Haunted Hotel?

I went to the Belleview Biltmore Hotel with a few friends for a haunted tour. The tour was given by a company called Orlando Ghost Tours. The tour started off pretty slow. We sat around and listened to the history of the hotel, which I found to be interesting. This hotel was built in 1826 and it was constructed entirely of wood. Yes, right on the Gulf! The hotel sits 50 feet above sea level and can be seen for miles. We started the tour by going down a very long hallway which reminded me of Stephen Kings movie "The Shining". Here is the hallway:

Above: view of what we were about to walk through.

Below: view of where we came from in the beginning.

There are shops, ice cream parlors and a bakery. All of these are supposedly part of the original hotel. The floors were wooden and creeked with every step. They were also very much warped. I got a little dizzy walking because I felt like I was riding a wave.

Isn't it beautiful? These picture do not do any justice to the real thing. The lighting was very dim so getting good shots were almost impossible.

Here is another hallway we went down once the tour was underway:

This is the famous 4th floor. Most of this floor is shut off to the public because of the renovations. This hallway led to the servents quarters. I think I have one photo that has a few orbs in it....here it is, can you find the orbs? There are 3 of them...

See the round glow just under the left window? This is orb #1, the largest of the three. Then on the bottom right window, you can see a small orb#2 on the lower right side. Orb #3 is a little harder to see because it blends in with the wall. If you are still zoomed in from looking at the window, the third orb is to the right of that, if you take your mouse and place it on the orb on the window and follow it directly to the right you should see it there.

Don't worry if you can't see them yet, when I get time I will post the close up shots with arrows pointing right to them.

Well, that's it for now....my post is getting too long (for me). I will post more tomorrow and hope to have the close ups ready by then. It was definately an experience I will remember.

Ok, this has to be one of my favorites. I have noticed a lot of LO's these days seem a little busy and at first I didn't really think I liked all the elements all over the page....but once I did it, I think it looks awesome. What do ya think?

Crazy Dog

I did a LO today...my first LO using a template in DIP. It took a little longer than copying from a sketch which is probably why I hadn't done it before.

Let me tell you about Guinness and water. This dog goes absolutely bonkers for water. Anything that sprays, splashes or spits he is right up on it. He will jump 6 feet in the air to catch a splash of water, I swear he's gonna break a leg. Some of the pics are a little fuzzy because I had the camera in movie mode....I wanted to get him in action, only I'm not very good at that yet. I didn't hold the button down long enough so the parts I wanted to get, I didn't get.

I added some brads of my own using the colors from the kit.

The boys decided to take a late night dip in the pool. Alex thought it was so cool to go in the pool at night.

LO Share

I made this LO a while back for a challenge. The site no longer exists, it was very short lived and I don't even remember the name (that's sad). I am posting this now because the designer, Lisa West who made this kit has come back to designing and decided to bring her "Mocha Swirls" kit back to life. I could never really give her the proper credit because she stopped designing for a while to be a teacher....clap clap clap...you've got to be a special kind of person to be a teacher in this day and age. Props to you Lisa.

Here is my LO:

Nick's first time shaving....he did pretty good. No huge gashes on his chin, and look he doesn't have any toilet paper spots stuck to his face anywhere.

More Pet Pic's

I really need to get a separate blog for the pet's; they seem to be invading my blog!

New LO's....'bout time!

Alexander wanted to help me make cookies for our cookie exchange at work. I had to make 6 dozen. We decided to make a simple bar cookie which I thought would go further than a regular cookie and be easier.....well it was easy to make it just wasn't easy to find the main ingredient; Nestle's New Raspberry Swirl chocolate chips; very hard to find.

Christmas Morning: Showing off one of his many presents from Santa. So far we have played this game once; Nick Scenes at least once, the many sets such as Lego, Pirates....etc...and the millions of parts that go along with it.

I've made the plunge!

Ok, I switched to the new Blogger Beta. So far so good. The header is actually visible now, so that's a good thing.

That's it, short and sweet. Oh, and I was able to add more links to the right. Before it was a long process because I could never remember how I did it the first time and had to go back and read...blah, blah, blah.
